Canadian creator David Morrell invented the Green Beret "John Rambo" character. His novel was later modified by Stallone to play the role in First Blood (1982), with Richard Crenna (and Brian Dennehy). John Rambo's second adventure proved to be a big revenue-maker for Stallone. It established his standing as one America's top male celebrities of 1980s. Stallone was riding high in popularity and fame, pleaded with Rocky Balboa, his sparring teammate, to return the arena to defend American patriotic spirit from The Soviet threat. It was one of the Russian boxer who was named Ivan Drago played by Curt Dolph Lundgren. With the violence level in this fourth installment being excessive, it was controversial for "Rocky" admirers. The violence level was more severe than the earlier Rocky films.
