Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22nd, 1985 New York City New York) has received acclaim for her acting abilities across various genres from historical dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson, the daughter of a renowned architect, as well as producer, was brought up as a child in New York City. Hunter, her twin brother, and she were both the youngest out of four kids. When she was just seven an old, the actress started auditioning for television commercials. Her interest in acting grew quickly and she enrolled immediately at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. At age eight she appeared together with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and, at the age of nine she made her debut in film as Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson later appeared as a character in Just Cause (1995) but her debut came in Manny & Lo (1996) an upcoming film that follows siblings who are orphaned and run away. The Horse Whisperer (1998) Johansson's role, which is the role of a teenager with a disfigurement, was hailed by reviewers. In the following years, she gained fame as the cynical teenager Rebecca in Ghost World.
